Storage & General Care

  • Do not place in a cupboard or plastic bag for long periods of time as it may become mouldy
  • If your Oilskin garment or gear has become mouldy, it is recommend leaving it under full sun for a couple of weeks
  • If it is still mouldy, hand wash with pure soap and reproof
  • If repairs need to be made, please make sure the area is reproofed after repairing to prevent leaking

Cleaning

  • When the garment gets dirty, brush off dirt or sponge down with cold water, if extremely dirty, hand wash in cold water
  • Do not machine wash or use detergent or hot water as this removes the oil and wax which are crucial to the Oilskin’s waterproofing qualities
  • If the oilskin requires a full clean, it is recommended to use Wool/Oilskin Detergent or pure soap.
  • Rinse well after washing and hang in a well ventilated area to dry
